When you think about making money from home, one of the first things you need to decide is how much you want to make and how much time you have to give it. There’s a big difference between looking a full-time at-home job, running your own business on your own schedule, and doing one-off tasks that pay a little bit here and there. Let’s take a look at some of the things you can do at each of these levels of “commitment.”
Make money selling trendy fabric bags and also tons of cute, fabric household storage accessories. Get 25 percent commission on sales. Starter kit is just $99, and there are opportunities to earn over $500 worth of free products in your first four months as a consultant. This is one of the most popular purse companies — they have more than 100,00 consultants.
I am still not completely clear how this can be legitimate…also what about saturation since ebay is so huge now? If everyone is listing the same products on ebay, won’t we get lost in the competition? We will end up competing with each other, right? Also, how will you keep up with helping all that are new to your group and need help? Thanks…I have joined other MLM and worked hard at them but did not do very well. I always spent more than I made:(
I would be thrilled to answer any follow-up questions from mamas who are interested in doing what I do! The more Compassionate Entrepreneurs there are, the more artisan partners we are able to take on, so if you’re even a tiny bit intrigued don’t hesitate to reach out to me to learn more. The best way to reach me is via email at firstname.lastname@example.org, but you can also message me on Instagram @jo.plantinghope or look me up on Facebook.
Here we’ve got a throwback to network marketing’s roots (Remember Tupperware parties? No? There’s a reason for that). Kitchen products, cooking demos, and mommy bloggers galore. Stay-at-home-moms looking for some flexibility are still a HUGE target demographic for MLM, so it’s no surprise that Pampered Chef has done so well that Warren Buffett decided he needed a piece of the action.
I am a Founding Consultant for a wonderful new ground floor direct selling company that is currently wide open in the US. The company has been in prelaunch for over a year and during that time has had great success testing their products in several locations in the US. The company was able to create a wonderful new training program and website that makes it so simple to provide training to you and your downline and serve your customers. If the idea of being in business, being the first in your area, and selling upscale products that are guaranteed to be the best in quality and workmanship sounds like something you might like to do. Then, we should talk. I always ask my customers one simple question, “Where can you find the perfect gift for every occasion, have it personalized at no extra charge, gift wrapped and delivered for you and you never have to leave your home to do it?”
One of the best skincare products in and outside of MLM, no doubt. They were founded by a couple dermatologists, and they used to be an upscale department store brand before entering the world of network marketing. Rodan and Fields created Proactiv, which ended up being one of the most famous skincare products of all time (and a hero-in-a-bottle for every middle schooler who’s ever been called pizza-face). Just this one product line is nearing $1 billion in annual sales.
Some options for selling Usborne books are home parties (which average only $100 in sales per party) and book fairs at schools (which have some real cash-earning potential). Needless to say, this isn't exactly a get-rich-quick company and the niche is small--not everyone needs or wants children's books! But for the right momma with the right circle of friends I think this would be a great company. You could also consider throwing Facebook parties around the holidays for extra sales and homeschool stock-up parties each season.
My advice to someone looking into DS is to find something that you actually love and know that you could share with other people, not sell it to them, but share with them why you love it. I do fairs and events and I share with people how amazing these little hair clips are. I get excited about them and it shows. 90% of the women who try them on, end up buying them because they love them. So find something you LOVE and not something just to sell.
Also, a reminder: I don't work for any of these companies and never have, so the information I'm giving you is based off of what I can glean from the internet as a potential sales representative. I assure you that short of calling a representative, I've done thorough research to provide the best, most accurate information on each company. If I feel that a company is not being very transparent or not allowing their representatives to be transparent then I will state that. Not as a dig on the company or any individual who works with them, but because I think that anyone who has ever swam the vast ocean of the internet looking for information on direct sales companies can recall, it's a huge pain in the butt to feel like you have to dig through endless websites and questionable testimonies only to find you never really got your answer.
Peter Castleman, Chairman of Herbalife, will be launching YEVO International on February, 1, 2015. This will be the first business to have dehydrated foods with 43 nutrients we all need in order to live healthy lives. Most of the foods we eat today, whether processed or organic, doesn't gives us the amount of nutrients we need in our bodies. I'm looking for people who will be dedicated to making a difference in people's live as well as their own lives. If you're interested in joining me please do email me at email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org. Once again my name is Denise Williams.
I just started selling for one of the top 15 and I went in knowing that this was just supplemental cash and nothing that would support my family. I spend 15 minutes (mostly from my phone) a day on my business and am happy with what I’ve done thus far. If it covers groceries and some extras like clothes or shoes, I’m good. If I start to become even more successful, great. It’s my competitive nature to want to out rank others, so I find it to be more of a personal challenge than thinking I’m going to get rich and stay rich. I appreciate the article and the no BS attitude.
Since joining Mary Kay, I’ve met some absolutely incredible women. We’ve shared successes and failures in our weekly meetings. My sales leader has even customized the weekly meetings when I’m traveling so I can meet with my group by webinar. I don’t feel alone as a Mary Kay consultant I know I can reach out to my friends who are also Mary Kay reps, whenever I’m having difficulties. They completely understand me and help me get through whatever barriers I’m having in my business.

MLM restructures the traditional business model — manufacturer to retail shop to customer — such that sales agents working for the manufacturer sell directly to customers, bypassing the retail shop altogether. MLM companies can then convert customers into advocates for their products and possibly even sales agents. Because there is no retail store for the products they sell, MLM agents typically work from their homes, interacting with customers in the community or, more often, over the internet.
My husband and I have been with Herbalife for almost a year… and we love the products… but getting people to try the products and remain consistent on them is nearly impossible for us… let alone trying to recruit people that will actually stick with the product without giving up. PLUS, when they do training opportunities… it seems like they expect you to pay an arm and a leg to go 🙁
Hi Jesse, That does help some…thanks for answering my questions. My other questions are: I am not connected with nearly as many people as it sounds like you are. How can I be successful in this business? Also, morally I struggle with charging someone more money for something that they can get somewhere else? I know…not much of a business acumen. Lol thanks,
They were hot. These guys caught some shade for over-inflating their health products, but what health MLM doesn’t inflate their prices “a tiny bit” so they can dish out those juicy commissions? Well, their fiber product was 900% more than “leading alternatives” and their Trioten protein blend was 600% more expensive than Herbalife and Shaklee proteins. Ouch.
If you’re headed towards the future, WGN will be there waiting. This company is ready to take on the world and they just may be ready to do so. They sell every futuristic gadget you could think of, some items include their space phones, wearable tech, and VR (virtual reality gear). They’ve only been in business for a limited amount of years, but they are on a constant rise in the MLM list of top 100 businesses globally.
Taylor researched the investment required to launch an effective business-building campaign for a recruitment-focused MLM (a company that places compensation and incentives on recruiting a "down-line," as well as selling a product). He estimates a minimum of $25,000 in total expenses that include incentives, products, phone, internet, giveaways, computer supplies, advertising, and travel etc. To come up with this figure, he joined a recruitment-focused company and worked full-time with the business for a year.
Lu La whaaa? If you love bright, flashy and fun leggings then take a look at Buskins Leggings which sells patterned leggings for a fraction of the price of other MLM clothing companies and offers customers the opportunity to find and buy their favorite prints from the your own personalized Buskins website. That means you don't have to spend days sorting through inventory and creating outfits out of mismatched patterns and sizes and hope that they catch one of your FB friends' eyes and budget before shipping off bundles of product. You're busy. You don't have time for that. (Time is money, remember?)
Because anyone can do it! I started the business after I had my 4th baby and was able to do so much of the business from my smart phone. But it was also easy to meet up with other moms for a play date and share the oils. Many moms are looking for natural options to help their families and essential oils are perfect. They can help babies sleep, give moms a natural option when they feel overwhelmed, help with the immune system, and so much more! Plus, it’s the type of product that people will continue to purchase without having to keep bugging them. doTERRA is one of the fastest growing companies right now and this really is the best time to start. In just 2.5 years, my husband was able to leave his engineering job thanks to doTERRA. And I did all that while staying home with my four kiddos. The opportunity is amazing!
I disagree with that jeremy i would recommend MLM over working a Corporate 9 t0 5 $300 weekly paycheck job anyday. I quit my job for mlm i mean why not recommend MLM when you can make 10X the more money than you can at any stupid corporate america job..Working for people are for losers and i will defend mlm for the rest of my life bro you need to get your facts straight and look on youtube to see people buying new mercedez benzs and rolls royce working with mlm
My wife has been a Mary Kay consultant for a little over a year and loves it. It does cost $99 for a starter kit, which is a one time purchase, and an order of $225 in inventory once every quarter to stay active. Staying active means keeping a 50% discount on any inventory you order. This means a 50% commission on anything you sell. Compared to a 25% commission selling Rodan & Fields. I am not bashing Rodan & Fields I was just using them as a comparison. I see a lot of negative opinions about direct sales companies and even sites devoted to bashing Mary Kay and I just don't get it. If you decide Mary Kay is not for you for any reason they will buy back all unused inventory you have a home for 90% of what you paid for up to a year. In what other business in the world can you risk so little for a possibility in a new career or part-time income. I have sifted through online comments from new Mary Kay consultants giving up completely after one party gets cancelled or doesn't go well. When you join Mary Kay you become a small business owner. People need to do their research and not be so bitter when they themselves fail or give up.
The major defining difference between other companies and MLM, is that they don’t mass market themselves, spending millions of dollars on television, radio and internet ads, but instead allocate that portion of their budget to pay hard working distributors who pound the pavement, form personal al relationships with clients, advocate their product, and hence donthe “marketing” for them.
Trades of Hope- (this is my friend Shelby’s link) Trades of Hope is an amazing company committed to empowering women around the world out of poverty. Their fair trade model helps them support artisans all over the world by helping them earn a living wage. Here’s what Shelby loves about the company- “It’s such an honor to advocate on behalf of & empower women from around the globe to RISE UP out of poverty & human trafficking by selling their beautiful, handmade, fair trade goods & promote sustainability — for both Artisans & TOH Compassionate Entrepreneurs.”
Founded in 2006, Steeped Tea allows you to share your love of tea with others through tea parties and online selling. You'll earn 25 to 39 percent commission, based on sales volume and other consultants you've sponsored. Startup kits run $99. The products contain no artificial colors, flavors, or added sugars. Of course, you'll find your favorite flavors such as chai and matcha, but there's a whole world of deliciously different flavors including pumpkin banana bread, strawberries and cream, and sweet date marzipan.
Paparazzi Jewelry is a great idea if you’re selling to fashionistas on a budget. Each piece is only $5, you’re able to choose by color and style and commission is generous at 45%. There are multiple starter kits available, including a $300 jewelry package, a $300 jewelry and hair package, a $700 large home party kit, a $1,400 small boutique starter kit or a $2,750 small event starter kit. With the kits, you also get party invitations, sales bags, display hooks, receipts, consultant applications, jewelry repair kit and more.
Sseko Designs is an amazing ethical Direct Sales company that helps provide dignified jobs and educational opportunity for women in Uganda. Women in the U.S. can sell Sseko Product for competitive commission while they contribute to real social impact! Would love to see Sseko added to the list, the products (sandals, jewelry, apparel, leather bags..) are STUNNING!
The intelligent companies obsess over ways to get their salespeople profitable FAST. When distributors are profitable, they’re less inclined to quit and less inclined to complain to regulators. Profitability is defined by earning more than you spend. Profitability can be enhanced through customer acquisition models like 3 and free programs, sample products, trainings on how to move inventory, etc. It can also be enhanced by avoiding taxing the distributors with overly expensive (and oftentimes ineffective) training materials.
There truly has never been a better time to join this life-changing company. You have the opportunity to make this business what you want it to be: a shoe fund, a mortgage payment, a vehicle payment, home-makeover, pay off debt, etc. The anti-aging industry is worth over $250 Billion, and the sky is the limit when it comes to building your own successful business as a Rodan+Fields consultant.
A few noteworthy points on this list… The only companies considered for this list are U.S.A. based; and if you click on each and every company linked above, what you will not find should be as interesting to you (and as revealing) as what you will find. There are no travel companies, only two technology companies (ACN and 5LINX), just one service company (Legal Shield), and 22 health and wellness companies. Even Amway, whose core product line still includes soap, really got started by way of the wellness revolution! Read this book by Paul Zane Pilzer and you’ll understand why nutrition, weight management, and skincare products continue to drive the trends in the network marketing industry to this day.
Life's Abundance sells products that help consumers (cats, dogs, and humans) live happier, healthier and longer lives. Field Reps (Consultants) earn commission on commissionable products, as well as startup, sales, and team building bonuses. According to this article, the startup fee is only $29.95 and there are no monthly sales quotas, and your website is free. Life's Abundance has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau.
It Works is a direct sales company founded in 2001 by Mark and Cindy Pentecost that deals with skin care and nutrition products. The privately owned company got its breakthrough because of its flagship products like the Ultimate Body Applicator and other anti-aging and nutritional supplements designed to make it easy for consumers to stay fit and healthy. The company, which employs over 10,000 people, generates over $500 million in annual revenues annually.
Le-Vel is a lifestyle brand that helps people feel their best through supplements, shakes, bars, and derma fusion patches. Their Promoter opportunity is available in the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, and Mexico. Promoters earn 20 percent of retail sales and can earn bonuses, rewards, and prizes for meeting goals and milestones along the way. Le-Vel has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau.
As far as the retirement saving crisis is concerned, more and more people are coming to terms with the fact that they probably aren’t going to be able to save enough money to just sit around and slowly deplete their nest egg from age 62 to 100. With the average 50 year-old estimated to have less than $50,000 in retirement savings, there is an obvious need to find alternative ways to either save more or generate supplemental income starting now, and continuing throughout retirement. Moving beyond just the dollars and cents, boomers are growing tired of feeling guilty or bad about their past savings habits and are interested in moving towards possible solutions.
They’re sliding, though. Revenue is falling in North America and their sales force is shrinking. Revenue slid 19% in 2013 and 7% in Mexico. Skip ahead to July 2015 and revenue is still spiraling downward, with a 17% drop (5). Analysts blame Avon’s failure to maintain a strong identity for its products as well as the strong dollar. Lesson: Always re-create yourself.
