Thanks for looking into all of these companies. I am a stay at home mom of an almost 4 year old and a 1 year old. I started with Wildtree when my oldest was 9 months old and I get out of it what I put into it. Some months work out well to do parties and work harder on my business. Other months, my family needs more of me and my business goes on the back burner...and that's okay. People are still using the products, therefor running out, and reordering more.
The company. Too many people get lured by the hype, without stopping to consider the company or its product/service. What does the company sell and can you get excited about it? What are the compensation plan, marketing system, and policies, and can you work with it? Is it a member of the DSA, and through your research, been found to be a legitimate company?

Starting an at-home business is a great way to make some money from home. You can set your own hours, take on as much or as little work as you want, and really have some serious control on your time and income. This is a hugely popular job for stay-at-home moms who are willing to do the research into all the different opportunities. These are just a few ideas to get you started:
They’re sliding, though. Revenue is falling in North America and their sales force is shrinking. Revenue slid 19% in 2013 and 7% in Mexico. Skip ahead to July 2015 and revenue is still spiraling downward, with a 17% drop (5). Analysts blame Avon’s failure to maintain a strong identity for its products as well as the strong dollar. Lesson: Always re-create yourself.
The structure of MLMs is very similar to a pyramid scheme. This doesn’t mean that all MLMs are pyramid schemes, but some certainly are. Those interested in pursuing a career in multi-level marketing should do research before joining a particular MLM. Generally speaking, if the bulk of the money you stand to earn comes from recruitment rather than direct sales, it’s wise to be very cautious.
You'd have to be living under a rock to never run into someone involved in multi-level marketing (MLM) (sometimes referred to as direct sales or network marketing). Maybe you've been to a party where a host does a presentation about makeup, cookware, or jewelry. Perhaps on old acquaintance has shown you a plan on how you can "leverage your time and money."
Many of the at-home jobs you hear about are very job-like in nature. You’ll have set hours you have to work (although those hours might not be 9 am to 5 pm) and you’ll need to show up every day on schedule. These jobs are going to be really hard to pull off if you have small children at home, but if your kids are in school or at childcare for most of the day, you may be interested in a part-time remote job.
As I write this I'm just a couple of weeks away from beginning our first year of homeschooling and I'm so excited. Why? Because learning toys and activities are even more fun when you're almost 30, apparently. Fundanoodle is a company that gives busy moms like homeschool moms the chance to earn some extra income selling products they themselves use every day, including interactive books and activities that give kids a chance to practice their reading, spelling and writing skills along with other important developmental goals.

I’ve been a representative of juice plus for several months now. I love their product line of organic fruits, vegetables and grains made into super convenient capsules, gummies, shakes and bars. They make adding so many healthy foods into our bodies so easy and fun! I love seeing the outcomes of people who purchase and use juice plus. It makes them happier and healthier overall! Writing – Whether it is blog content, articles, or business letters, this way of monetizing your skills has become quite common. Micro-job sites like Fiverr allow you to post your skills as “gigs” that you sell for a price, usually a few dollars. Sites like Freelancer and Upwork are “business to consumer” sites where sellers are linked with buyers. Most of the time jobs are awarded based on skills, qualification, buyer needs, and bids made by the seller (you, the freelancer) to get the buyer’s work done. Other sites screen you by requiring you to provide a sample before you are graded and placed in the appropriate writer level based on your writing skill.
After reading through reviews written by former and current distributors and users of the products it's clear that the products work--if only temporarily--and that selling for It Works requires an intense amount of motivation and work, without which you'll surely fail. This is more like a Work-At-Home career choice than a stay-at-home mom hobby. There seems to be an opportunity for serious cash here, but there's also opportunity to fail and lose money.

You can learn more about it here. The coaching program that allowed me to quit my 9 to 5 for good, a business model which requires no recruiting. Instead of talking to people with no money, you only do business with small business owners that’s got money to throw down and you solve their number 1 problem which is they need more customers from the internet.
Wildtree parties require "tastings" which requires cooking, so if you're not actually comfortable with cooking or making yourself at home in someone else's house (I would be totally freaked out-- ummm can I touch your stove? Is that cool?) this probably isn't the right company for you. You will also need to set up and take down your parties so as not to leave your host or hostess with a mess.
Thanks for this list. Loved seeing Monat as #1! I am a Market Partner for this company and the money is crazy good because the products are awesome. I was disappointed to see Plexus at #28 and I wasn’t impressed by what you had to say about them. Plexus is NOT a weight loss company. Their products promote a healthy gut and they are clinically proven to decrease inflammation and balance blood sugar. Weight loss is a natural side effect of body balance. The products work and there are a lot of people I know personally making good money with Plexus.
Ben Thataway, a CEO benefits forever off of his employees and the employees can spend a lifetime and never make the kind of money they can make in network marketing. I know someone personally that beat out 80,000 representatives, did not join the company untli 3 years after it launched and became the top income earner. What you’ve heard, or what you think you know about network marketing is false.
One of the giant SEO network marketers in the game is Rob Fore, and yet he promotes MLSP as his best venture.  This should mean a lot to those out there.  This company is still in the neighbourhood, even with all the steam clearing away, they still have something left to give the digital MLM industry (although they are up against companies like: Tecademics, Digital Altitude, Empower Network, Wealthy Affiliate).
Blogging— I love blogging! It offers you a great outlet to share your ideas with the world, and there are lots of ways you can “monetize” your blog and develop income streams, which means your income potential is basically unlimited. Blogging does require work and you’ll need to learn a lot (either on your own or through a course), but it’s really popular with moms for good reasons.

I found your article interesting. My wife and I have been involved with AdvoCare since November 2011. Even if I never make another dime in AdvoCare, I will continue to use the products because they have worked and continue to work for us. What I find interesting is the statistic that the majority – 99.7% in MLM actually “lose” money. What is the context of that statistic? That would mean A: the majority of MLM companies don’t have a buyback or return policy B: people that get started with MLM’s have to take on much more inventory that they are able to sell or C: this statistic is not accurate. I believe that C is the right answer. I do agree there are flaws in the MLM industry just as there are flaws in every industry. However, I believe that the MLM industry has made huge improvements in recent years and we do have a better way. People are the variable. When you have a great product, a passion and purpose that drives you everyday, are teachable and coachable, and love others as much as you love yourself, you can be successful in this business. Through the process of investing in your own personal development and learning to serve others, you are able to lead others to do the same. Thanks again. I look forward to reading more from you in the near future.

And we are one of only four companies to hit the $1billion dollar mark before the end of the fourth year. And it practically sells itself. Whereas other companies require multiple products to see results, our NeriumAD (the most popular product we sell) is a one product system. You can check out my webpage at http://www.kristychurch.nerium.com or on Facebook in the group Nerium With Kristy.
And did you see that? Team members? I'm about to promote to Director in the next month - just six months after starting. And again, not because I've been badgering people to join, just because I'm connecting with people who love the products and, for whatever reasons, want to become a consultant. I have one team member who has a $150/month deficit in her current budget, but she is a single mom and need something she can do on her own timing. Another wants to learn to cook better and loves the products. Another lady just retired and needs some extra income and wants to get out and meet people still. I'm super grateful for the team I signed up with as well. They've been great to work with, super helpful, and don't pressure me to do anything other than reach my own goals.
If the official site of the MLM program you want to join does not have any of these features, you will probably have a hard time with making sales, especially if you have limited experience with selling products. A program that provides you with resources designed to help you become a better seller wants you to succeed and will help you generate more revenues.

The uniqueness of the Ambit Energy is the company does not seek to create a lot of noise about it nor promises to create any insane innovations. It just offers simple services to the people such as of providing gas service to home or electricity and all these at a cheaper rate than its competitors. It offers people an exceptional opportunity to save money and this approach does work.
Something multi-level marketing as well as network marketing companies are poised to capitalize on.  As a result, the industry could soon experience larger than life growth, spurred by baby boomers looking to adjust their retirement feelings and plans.  Whether you're interested in starting your own business for retirement income or helping others explore this entrepreneurial path, download our free guide:  How To Start a Business For Retirement Income here

Well done Melaleuca, they hit over a billion dollars in yearly sales…there’s a reason they are a part of the select few considered to be at the top. Adding to this is their longevity, because they’ve been in the MLM industry for over 20 years, and now they’ve reached the status of the “largest online wellness shopping club” (which can sound fancier than it is, because are they aren’t selling anything more than a fantasy diet pill).

Seriously? MLMs are a plague on society. They’re dishonest & predatory in every way. They ruin lives, relationships & finances. If you’re going to promote such an awful choice, then you should share some REAL FACTS about the companies instead of just the positive. Actually there is NOTHING positive about any mlm. If you read something positive about them, it’s probably a lie posted by a hun trying to get sales. Why don’t you share the income disclosures if these companies are so great that you would actually suggest to people work for them? Look at the income disclosures of ANY MLM & you’ll see the FACT is that around 99% of every person who joins any MLM will lose money! They are pyramid schemes with an irrelevant, overpriced product to make it legal. Shame on you! I hope if anyone reads this awful article they do some real research before joining any of these scams!

Here we’ve got a throwback to network marketing’s roots (Remember Tupperware parties? No? There’s a reason for that). Kitchen products, cooking demos, and mommy bloggers galore. Stay-at-home-moms looking for some flexibility are still a HUGE target demographic for MLM, so it’s no surprise that Pampered Chef has done so well that Warren Buffett decided he needed a piece of the action.
WHEN NANCY CRAMER WAS A young mother, she wanted to stay at home with her kids. It wasn't long, she says, before the multilevel marketing community found her and got her on board to start selling a line of vitamins and skincare products. She was intrigued by the sales pitch: She could be at home with her kids, make extra income on the side, and all she had to do was call 10 people per day.
Great listing and especially the honest look at what being in an MLM means. Direct sales is a hard business, especially if you’re not passionately using the product daily. You see too many people who join thinking it will be a get rich quick scheme and don’t actually care about the product or their customers. Genuine lasts and is successful, companies like Avon and Mary Kay have been around for generations because people love their products.
Okay, if former presidential candidates wasn’t enough, this company even got a very popular American paper, the New York Times, to make some high profile endorsements.   Just shy of making it to the top 10 MLMs list, this company has some significant worth…let’s say about $3 billion dollars!  If you check them out on the stock exchange, you’ll see their growth rate is incredible.
Good morning! I work for an ID company called ITWORKS. a lot of people know them for the wraps that help lose belly skin that is left from pregnancies and loss of weight. I am big on selling the greens because they detoxify and also alkalize your body to prevent cancer cells from producing. the products are wonderful and its only 99 to sign up. business is booming and the commission plan is amazing. caitlinoliviaowens@gmail.com if you want to talk more,
Incredible makeup and skin care for everyone…  At LimeLight we empower people to achieve their goals and dreams to inspire others to do the same.  Our family-owned company was founded in 1952 to provide professional makeup to the stage and film industry.  Now we are expanding our reach to help women everywhere look their best every day with our all natural skincare line and personalized makeup pallets.
Hi Everyone! My name is Donna and I am in Kentucky. I am so excited about sharing my new business and how great it is. I am a Founding Consultant for a wonderful new ground floor direct selling company that is currently wide open in the US. The company has been in prelaunch for over a year and during that time has had great success testing their products in several locations in the US. The company was able to create a wonderful new training program and website that makes it so simple to provide training to you and your downline and serve your customers. If the idea of being in business, being the first in your area, and selling upscale products that are guaranteed to be the best in quality and workmanship sounds like something you might like to do. Then, we should talk. I always ask my customers one simple question, “Where can you find the perfect gift for every occasion, have it personalized at no extra charge, gift wrapped and delivered for you and you never have to leave your home to do it?”

Well they were hot…this company was caught in the act and had some shade thrown their way after they were found to have been over-inflating their health products for consumer purchase.  But really though?  What company do you know that doesn’t do this in the MLM health industry? It seems like a common practice, even if its “just a bit,” so they are able to pay out commissions made.  Some perspective for the shade…their fiber product was 900% more costly than “leading alternatives” and their Trioten protein blend was 600% more pricey as well when comparing their products to companies such as Herbalife and Shaklee.

I totally agree, Mary. You can lose soooo much more just by opening up a small storefront business. I was in the Spa Industry and then the economy tanked in late 2008. I did not renew my lease in 2009. Lost my several hundred thousand dollar build-out. Lost so much more than taking an MLM business seriously. Even if I would have front loaded on a ton of product, I still would have been better off. People spend $750 and get some business cards then do nothing and blame MLM.
Hi Jesse, That does help some…thanks for answering my questions. My other questions are: I am not connected with nearly as many people as it sounds like you are. How can I be successful in this business? Also, morally I struggle with charging someone more money for something that they can get somewhere else? I know…not much of a business acumen. Lol thanks,
Thank you for sharing and keep it updating, Holly. For women who are fashion lovers and alway enjoy what they are doing, I’d like to share this fashion jewelry wholesale site to you and your followers who interest in starting a fashion jewelry business online. There’s no startup or service fee, and MOQ is as low as $100. Even better, the products can be personalized by changing the colors and engraving with your business name! Please check out here: https://alamodeonline.com

Talk about heavyweights in the industry! Tecademics is what we call a digital company, and quite befitting because they have one the most extensive digital marketing training programs around to offer.  The founder, Chris Record, who used to be at Empower Network and was highly acclaimed there, launched Tecademics after he left that company.  This digital training arrives with a bigger price mark, but it’s not even close to what you’d have to pay for a university degree.
And did you see that? Team members? I'm about to promote to Director in the next month - just six months after starting. It's a typical workday in the Fiscella home: Ginny, leader of Silpada jewelry company's top sales force, makes phone calls in her home office, while husband Doug handles her administrative tasks from his laptop in the kitchen. The arrangement gives him time with daughters Caroline and Molly and frees Ginny to focus on what she does best—selling, recruiting, and motivating her team.
Thank you for this article! I’m with Doterra, like a lot of other people I didn’t start out selling. I just wanted to use the product. But, when you see such great results you can’t help but tell people. I love working for this company!! I have worked for Tupperware, Amway, Jafra, It Works, I never made money like I am with doTerra. Hands down its the best!! I’m working hard to build my business and it is paying off and I’m reaping the benefits for my health. God’s Design for our Natural health care is top notch! I give God all the glory and I couldn’t do this without him.

Also, a reminder: I don't work for any of these companies and never have, so the information I'm giving you is based off of what I can glean from the internet as a potential sales representative. I assure you that short of calling a representative, I've done thorough research to provide the best, most accurate information on each company. If I feel that a company is not being very transparent or not allowing their representatives to be transparent then I will state that. Not as a dig on the company or any individual who works with them, but because I think that anyone who has ever swam the vast ocean of the internet looking for information on direct sales companies can recall, it's a huge pain in the butt to feel like you have to dig through endless websites and questionable testimonies only to find you never really got your answer.
This is such a cool website! I love interior decorating and clothes. Have you heard of shop Stevie? I just tried to get info on becoming a sales rep for them, but they don’t have the option right now in my area. I’m also a part time school teacher, just looking to make some extra money on the side while I’m at home with my kids. I would love to hear your suggestions. Thanks!
I have totally fallen in love with the personal connections you make at home parties and the far-reaching “ripple effect” of sharing our mission through the home party model (which is hilarious because I never even used to go to home parties). It’s also a super predictable way to conduct business since you generally know that if a hostess has 10 people show you’ll be walking away with a $700 or more party (that’s been huge in making this sustainable for my family). But I love that when a month is a little slower on the home party front that I can put together a couple of quick online shows or dig up a vendor event to make some fresh contacts. There are so many ways to work this business.

Our starter kit is $99 and we offer you the option of hosting a party in order to  put the hostess rewards towards the purchase of the kit. The average home party is a $500 party which would earn you $90 in free product that you could decide to cash in for a $90 kit coupon so the up-front investment is incredibly reasonable, and potentially free (minus tax & shipping).

But please do a little research before you blanket insult an entire industry or business model. I am a single mother with a 6 figure income because of MLM, nearly twice that when I’m actively working my business with both of the companies I represent, and while not everyone has the skill set to succeed in this business, the potential is certainly there, for those that do.
Just hitting their 5-year anniversary in the MLM health and wellness niche, they have already gained so much popularity.  The company has won the Bravo Growth Award from the Direct Selling News Global.  Yes, they won this award about two years ago, and yes that is when they were just starting out.  They had so much potential, but eventually they came to booming halt, shattering into a bunch of tiny pieces (meaning a lot of MLM affiliates without jobs).
The MLM industry varies so much and is so vast, it’s kind of hard to break into any niche with a new product (because chances are it’s already been done), however this company managed to do it! With their custom nail designs and adhesive technique, the company made a big bang with their introduction to the direct sales platform.  They got over 100,000 associates in no time, and ended up conquering their market.
Odds are, somebody in your life works or has worked for a multi-level marking company, called MLM companies for short. If you’ve ever had a friend on social media invite you to join their sales team or attend an online shopping party, it probably had connections to an MLM company. Some people think of MLM companies as some opportunistic scam, but that actually couldn’t be further from the truth. Learning a little bit about how these companies can help you understand why they provide a wealth of opportunity for income and professional growth. In fact, you’re probably very familiar with many of the best MLM companies in the business without even knowing it.

Bro, I have worked for few MLM companies in the past with mixed results. However, currently I am into stock trading and trying my hands at online marketing as well. Personally, I feel I can make a space for myself there. But frankly, you need a successful person with great attitude to guide you and mentor you at the initial phase at least. Can you play that role for me?
Hey Jesse, you forgot about Primerica! My brother makes a lot of money with them and he’s only been there 6 years and he makes $8-10 Grand a month now! Kindve wish I would’ve started with him when he first joined because the company does have great concepts and just recently was named one of Forbes top 50 trustworthy companies! That’s awesome! I didn’t have the time to commit then but I just got rolling 2 months ago and I’ve made $900 this month and will be over a grand once I help this next family get a policy in place! I so wish I would’ve got started years ago!

I am a Wildtree representative. I just wanted to let you know that we don't actually have to cook anything at the tasting parties. We have sample packets that we provide to the host/hostess ahead of time and they prepare the food. If a host/hostess wanted us to prepare something to show how quickly and easily you can make a healthy dinner with Wildtree, I don't think anyone would say, "No." but I've been doing this for over 3 years and I'm yet to cook in a kitchen during a party. We also provide meal planning and meal prep/freezer meal parties. No cooking, just planning and prepping. I just don't want anyone who was considering Wildtree to be scared away with that information. :)
As a single mom, I needed to bring in extra money on top of my salary, and I decided to take a look at direct sales companies to make money. It can be tough work, but the 7 companies I’ve listed below provide awesome products, are great to their consultants and designers, and provide lots of resources to help you be successful. The commission I’ve earned from selling Scentsy, Thirty-One Gifts, and recently Origami Owl has helped me through some very tight times. As always, read the requirements of the consultant for each of these companies before making a decision. Do you need some extra cash? Take a look at these direct sales companies to make money and supplement your income!
Shaklee – Established in 1956, Shaklee is an MLM company that mainly focuses on home care items and over 200 nutritional and skin care products. The company makes over $844 million in revenue every year and invests about $250 million into research for the development of eco-friendly products. The company has created over 2,000 millionaires over the years.

The aforementioned are some of the best MLM companies in the world currently. You need to perform some research before joining the most suitable MLM company which would depend on the products you choose to promote. Hard work and some dedication to the cause would eventually bring great results and good profits for you and your company. Check out these companies right now.
You want to go back in a time machine and relive the old days of your younger, fitter and slimmer self?? Well if you just said yes, you are a part of the targeted market: everyone!  With their insane sale profit numbers, this company always makes the list for the top 20 MLM companies in the world, bringing in about $1.4 billion dollars in yearly revenue.  Not only are you selling a product people already have so much trust in, but the new associate cost to sign up is only $30, really one of the lowest.

First, Elliot, thank you for this article. Your sense of truly wanting to help comes through and it’s refreshing. Like MommyFinance, I too have suffered PTSD from previous runs at MLM but I have been looking for legitimate ways of making extra income and seems I’m being directed toward trying MLM again. Your article gave me hope that there are some good ones out there. What you said about finding the one that fits me and leaving a legacy for family really turned on a light for me and I greatly appreciate that. A wine business is not quite up my alley but I will certainly direct those who might be interested your way.
Reason I joined: I have been waiting for a MLM that was all about healthy food to appear and I was very familiar with the owner of the company Peter Casleman, and all his business success. I am a Life Coach and my motto is "Helping the world be a better place one person at a time" and Yevo's motto is "Helping the world be a healthier place one meal at a time" and it resinated with me deeply.
I just started selling for one of the top 15 and I went in knowing that this was just supplemental cash and nothing that would support my family. I spend 15 minutes (mostly from my phone) a day on my business and am happy with what I’ve done thus far. If it covers groceries and some extras like clothes or shoes, I’m good. If I start to become even more successful, great. It’s my competitive nature to want to out rank others, so I find it to be more of a personal challenge than thinking I’m going to get rich and stay rich. I appreciate the article and the no BS attitude.

Lu La whaaa? If you love bright, flashy and fun leggings then take a look at Buskins Leggings which sells patterned leggings for a fraction of the price of other MLM clothing companies and offers customers the opportunity to find and buy their favorite prints from the your own personalized Buskins website. That means you don't have to spend days sorting through inventory and creating outfits out of mismatched patterns and sizes and hope that they catch one of your FB friends' eyes and budget before shipping off bundles of product. You're busy. You don't have time for that. (Time is money, remember?)
My name is Erin Pyka and I joined this new company all because I received a sample of the product and loved it! I am married to my amazing husband and we have two busy daughters who love being involved in dance and cheer. I also help take care of my grandparents and was a labor and delivery nurse working 12 hour shifts, so the idea of doing a “side gig” didn't sound appealing.
I am over a year in and I am making almost half my income with this little hair jewelry company. A word of warning to others though, DS is not a get rich quick scheme. I put in about 15-20 hours a week after my kids go to sleep promoting this product. It is a job. A job that has made it possible for me to pay the bills and spoil my kids a bit, but yes, a job.
Want to know where the best skincare products in the land of the MLM world are? Right here with Rodan and Fields.  A pair of dermatologists founded this company as an expensive department store product before emerging onto the scene of network marketing.  They are the ones who made and created Proactiv and they hit success and ended up with the best skincare products of all time (every teenager’s savior, as it became the solution that worked for everyone).  Their one product line rakes in almost $1 billion in yearly sales.

Steeped Tea is a fairly new (2012) company specializing in loose-leaf teas. Of many of the companies I'm writing about here, this is admittedly one of the few I've actually heard of prior to my research. I was invited to a Steeped Tea party last month but thanks to debilitating morning sickness (yay) had to decline the invitation. It sounded fun though, a bunch of friends getting together to try flavors like Birthday Cake and Almond Chocolate Torte. The start-up kit is only about $150 but you are required to pay a monthly fee of near $13 to maintain your active consultant status.
Usborne Books is an America-based direct sales company established in 1989 and is an extension of Usborne Educational Development/Publishing Corporation founded in 1973 by Peter Usborne. Usborne Books has been recognized a couple of times as one of the best small companies in America. Its mission is to provide economic opportunity while nurturing family values and to deliver educational excellence. The company generates about $9.6 million in revenues every year.

A group of health care and business professionals founded doTERRA Earth Essence in 2008. They shared profound personal experiences with the life-enhancing benefits of essential oils, and the MLM’s first offering of essential oils – 25 single oils and 10 oil blends – was then introduced. In addition to new oils and blends, product offerings include nutritional, spa and healthy living products.

Timing – The company is at the ground floor! The opportunity is huge for those who join so early! Look at other companies and ask the top leaders when they joined. Don't let this opportunity pass you by! It's only $99.00 to own and operate your own business today! We also have a 30 day money back promise on the business – so U have nothing to lose!

Thoroughly enjoyed reading your mlm breakdowns and the comments, thank you Jeremy. Had a successful mlm business but had to make a decision to give it up or have a breakdown due to ongoing upline bullying so at a big crossroads at the minute. being an ‘older’ lady here in the north of England doesn’t bode well for conventional job hunting in the current economic climate so some serious thinking needed on my part and QUICKLY lol. Thanks again Jeremy x
I’ve written ad nauseum about the idea of offering special, confidential deals with “elite” networkers. Confidential deals occur when a company provides extra incentives to lure experienced networkers from another company. The incentives take many forms, but usually involve up-front money, preferred placement in the genealogy, enhanced earning potential in the pay plan, etc. If you look historically at the companies that have been aggressive with deals, theres always a massive POP followed by a massive DROP. Who gets hurt? The average distributors that signed up under the pretenses of joining the “next hot thing.”
They were hot. These guys caught some shade for over-inflating their health products, but what health MLM doesn’t inflate their prices “a tiny bit” so they can dish out those juicy commissions? Well, their fiber product was 900% more than “leading alternatives” and their Trioten protein blend was 600% more expensive than Herbalife and Shaklee proteins. Ouch.

A few noteworthy points on this list… The only companies considered for this list are U.S.A. based; and if you click on each and every company linked above, what you will not find should be as interesting to you (and as revealing) as what you will find. There are no travel companies, only two technology companies (ACN and 5LINX), just one service company (Legal Shield), and 22 health and wellness companies. Even Amway, whose core product line still includes soap, really got started by way of the wellness revolution! Read this book by Paul Zane Pilzer and you’ll understand why nutrition, weight management, and skincare products continue to drive the trends in the network marketing industry to this day.

This company is still able to shine through, even though they are in tough competition with other well-known competitors such as Mary Kay and Avon.  This company does promote their focus on having cruelty-free products for consumers and au natural ingredients, and from their stand point it looks like they could sling shot into the league of their rivals at any time.  You can anticipate to watch them enter the billion-dollar yearly revenue stream pretty soon!

Plexus Worldwide is an amazing company to work from home with, I never feel pressured to make sales, I am a product of the product which in return does the sales for me. The products are truly remarkable in that they are multi taskers and have had testimonial proof helping with so many health issues. No website fees, 11 ways to earn, no home parties. I can go on and on about this company I have great passion for! :)

Syrup, gravy, and salsa are just a few of the products offered by Wildtree under the premise that their condiments and spices are, "free of preservatives, additives, fillers and promote a healthier lifestyle." ... which is probably how they can convince you purchase a $12 spice blend. After looking through their product catalog and their business model I do think this looks like a good opportunity for those who have the time and the energy to devote to the company and selling Wildtree products.
The major defining difference between other companies and MLM, is that they don’t mass market themselves, spending millions of dollars on television, radio and internet ads, but instead allocate that portion of their budget to pay hard working distributors who pound the pavement, form personal al relationships with clients, advocate their product, and hence donthe “marketing” for them.

Full disclaimer: I do not work for any of these companies, I don't work in direct sales at all. I'm being transparent in what I think of these companies and what I know about them to help balance what you might be hearing from friends or family who already sell for these companies. If you feel I've misrepresented a company please chime in below and let us know what your experience has been!
Taylor researched the investment required to launch an effective business-building campaign for a recruitment-focused MLM (a company that places compensation and incentives on recruiting a "down-line," as well as selling a product). He estimates a minimum of $25,000 in total expenses that include incentives, products, phone, internet, giveaways, computer supplies, advertising, and travel etc. To come up with this figure, he joined a recruitment-focused company and worked full-time with the business for a year.
Great list and I love receiving your emails for information as a home based business. I am independent consultant with Mannatech Australasia. We offer a range of Weightloss and Wellness products based on real food technology. I invite you all to pop over to my site where i have some information about our products. I am always interested to hear from other women who would like to work from home. I have just recently learned that ‘women setting up business from home is the fastest growing sector in the Australian economy’. Thank you and all the best
Do not expect the owner or support team of an MLM program to talk to you about the downsides of selling products for them since their main goal is to recruit you. If you come across reviews or blog posts about a specific program, take the time to do some research to find out who wrote this content and to check whether or not they are affiliated with the program.

Norwex is also a great company to do direct sales with. Based out of Norway, the company has been around for over 20 years. They produce high quality microfiber cloths that can be used to clean your entire house with only water. Their mission is to reduce the use of toxic chemicals. 35% commission. No monthly dues or sales goals. They’ll send you your starter kit at no cost. All you have to do is sell $2000 in your first 90 days. If you don’t meet that goal you do have to pay $200 for your starter kit, but there are no other obligations. Lots of great incentives
The gift company Thirty-one was founded in 2003. They offer a huge number of attractive home organizing and personalized products including storage bins, purses and totes, wallets, lunch and picnic thermals, and customizable pillows and wall art. Consultants make 25 percent on every sale through face-to-face, online, and catalogue parties. Starter kits are $99. If you become a leader to new consultants, you'll earn a percentage of their commission as well. There's also a monthly subscription fee for a personalized website and emails to customers.
