The privately owned company got its breakthrough because of its flagship products like the Ultimate Body Applicator and other anti-aging and nutritional supplements designed to make it easy for consumers to stay fit and healthy. The company, which employs over 10,000 people, generates over $500 million in annual revenues annually.
The Team Beachbody coaching opportunity has forever changed my financial future and that of my family. It’s been a great experience to help people simply by sharing with them what has worked for me. I'm sorry to hear that you're disappointed in this post, however the idea behind this article was actually to come from the perspective of a stay-at-home mom so it is indeed an opinion and not necessarily a "fact based" article. You're right, from what I can find currently, the startup price to join It Works! is $99, not $100. I will update that in my article. I found that information on an unofficial It Works! blog called WrapItLoseIt.net where I read that the best starter package retails for $499. When I checked out the official It Works! website I was unable to locate any information directly from the company that indicates the actual startup costs of joining the company which I find frustrating as I'm sure others do as well. Would you mind posting a link to that here so others can find quick and clear information on It Works! without having to dig?
Wildtree parties require "tastings" which requires cooking, so if you're not actually comfortable with cooking or making yourself at home in someone else's house (I would be totally freaked out-- ummm can I touch your stove? Is that cool?) this probably isn't the right company for you. You will also need to set up and take down your parties so as not to leave your host or hostess with a mess.
Scentsy consultants need to maintain a minimum of $150 sales in a rolling 3 month period. A company called "Perfectly Posh" is straight commission based on however amount of sales you have. There is a quota to meet but it is based on $300 in sales over 6 months. And I believe it's a total of $300 over 6 months. Where as a direct sales like Scentsy requires $150 in sales total for 1 month. Total sales cannot equal $150 in sales done within 3 months. Gotta love these quota rules, they'll get cha every time. One way or another..
Arbonne– (this is my friend April’s link) Arbonne has nutritional supplements & detox packages, skin care and makeup. Here’s why my friend April loves the company-  “the long-standing integrity of the company, commitment to quality & safety, focus on giving and serving others (not on personal gain) … but the compensation plan is incredibly generous which just frees you up to bless even more people.”
Perfectly Posh is a direct sales company with a focus on pampering products. Products are paraben and paraffin-free, sulfate-free, as well as gluten, lanolin and soy-free. To start selling Perfectly Posh Products, you purchase a starter kit for $99, which contains over 10 products, generous sales tools, a free website for three months, virtual office and placement on their consultant list.
Diets…fad diets, new diets, old diets…it’s an endless story especially in the 2000’s, and this company is one of those companies.  The FDA had a run-in with these guys and they are not in the greatest standings with the BBB either, which seem to be the norm with weight loss pills of the “magical results” variety.   Well the good news for this business is that they’ve managed to keep trending for 5 years (that’s a pretty good streak), and the company reps are earning a colossal 50% in commissions.
One of the things I like most about the company is that it is very small and virtually unknown. It’s not saturated.  Most people have never heard of it before.  Talk to 1,000 people and you might find one person who has heard of it before. Sure, they don’t have all the bells and whistles of a big company, but you can get in touch with the CEO when needed.
Great article and thanks for taking the time to write this.. however I can see why your business didn’t fly as you had hoped. Mlm is a people’s business and that means that it IS the interaction with each other that strengthens working together. Yes you need to be self motivated but you also need to be a supporter too. Networking also eliminates the need to do constant appraisals. You don’t work you don’t get paid. That’s music to a corporate managers ears. Networking is not for everyone… but where else can you invest for such a small amount and have all the other aspects of business done for you and all you have to do is go get customers and recruit more customer finders and have no ceiling on being paid for that. As for the product you promote.. you choose something you like. My original passion as a woman was make up so I joined that type of business. Got so passionate I qualified as a beautician and onto other certificates then I discovered essential oils.. I needed supplies but minimum trade orders were over £3000 each time. Mlm on the other hand was order as my demands and finances could afford. So my interest in mlm grew. Now I would not go back to traditional office work. When I know when I apply myself I can exceed what ANY employer thinks I’m worth
When you’re asking people to volunteer their time to sell a product or service, the experience needs to be fun. As adults, we all feel tremendous pressure in multiple areas of our lives. If a network marketing company starts to feel stale, unappreciative and a little corporate-y, consumers will invest their energies somewhere else. As Millennials hit the scene, it’s important to understand that they’re placing less emphasis on financial metrics. Companies need to always maintain a sense of humor and constantly show appreciation for their sales force. When a company starts leading with an iron fist and sends out warnings to fence in a sales force, it almost always backfires. People need to have fun with the brand and fun sharing the brand with others. If it’s painful, forget about it.
I feel blessed to have found this opportunity and my purpose will always be to glorify God. I also love helping my team members and customers become the best versions of themselves. Join me — it's fun and you too could change your financial future! If you send me a PM, I'll send you a business presentation to watch. I'd also love to send ya free samples to try!

So many great ideas!! I didn’t see Pampered Chef or Lia Sophia though. I don’t see either of those, but know people who do. I am a Team Beachbody Independent Coach – I love it. What better way to get into great health and stay that way – healthy and sustainable! The best part is all the people that you get to meet and getting excited for them when they can do things that they couldn’t do before. Personally, I have Multiple Sclerosis and through the Shakeology and workout programs, I have lost 25 pounds and gained the nourishment that my body needed for energy to get me through the day. MS fatigue is horrid, but Shakeology fights it more than my script for fatigue does. Amazing how I feel. I’d love to help others find their personal best – if any one wants to have one on one support! It’s free for support. :) Just join as a member (there is a free option) http://www.lisalesliefitness.com. Or check out my blog – http://www.lisalesliefitnessblog.com Again, thanks for the post!

To become a stylist for Stella and Dot, you'll need to put in an initial investment of around $200+ This cost includes the jewelry you'll be putting on display (and hopefully selling) at your initial trunk show (home-party). Stylists earn 25% of their total sales, so if you sell $100 worth of jewelry at your first trunk show you'll take home $25. Given the price of the pieces though, you'll likely make more if you host a large enough show.
Hi! I am an Independent Consultant for Rodan + Fields. I just joined a month ago. Our industry is skincare- and we are the number one skincare line. My favorite product is our unblemish regimen because I've seen people use it who've struggled with acne for years and tried endless amounts of products and unblemish is the only one that's worked for them. I chose this company because the products are incredible- I'd never sell something that didn't yield incredible results. This is definitely a company worth joining!!

With so many of the fastest growing MLM companies pushing to have you join, it can get confusing when you’re looking at MLM products, compensation plans, where to get leads, marketing tips, and most of all – can I really make money with this? What you need to remember, is that the best MLM to join in your situation is going to come down to one thing – finding a product and a business you are excited about sharing!
One of the things I like most about the company is that it is very small and virtually unknown. It’s not saturated.  Most people have never heard of it before.  Talk to 1,000 people and you might find one person who has heard of it before. Beautycounter is a fast growing company that is perfect for someone who is passionate about healthy nontoxic beauty products and safe products for their family. It is an education based company that is striving to make change in the personal care and beauty product industry. Here is the link to my page http://www.beautycounter.com/andreakropf It’s a movement you would be proud to be a part of.

The MLM industry varies so much and is so vast, it’s kind of hard to break into any niche with a new product (because chances are it’s already been done), however this company managed to do it! With their custom nail designs and adhesive technique, the company made a big bang with their introduction to the direct sales platform.  They got over 100,000 associates in no time, and ended up conquering their market.
Plexus Worldwide is an amazing company to work from home with, I never feel pressured to make sales, I am a product of the product which in return does the sales for me. The products are truly remarkable in that they are multi taskers and have had testimonial proof helping with so many health issues. No website fees, 11 ways to earn, no home parties. I can go on and on about this company I have great passion for! :)
Just hitting their 5-year anniversary in the MLM health and wellness niche, they have already gained so much popularity.  The company has won the Bravo Growth Award from the Direct Selling News Global.  Yes, they won this award about two years ago, and yes that is when they were just starting out.  They had so much potential, but eventually they came to booming halt, shattering into a bunch of tiny pieces (meaning a lot of MLM affiliates without jobs).
Backstory: Leah discovered Celebrating Home at a school PTO event, while living on Grand Forks Air Force base in North Dakota. Having just finished chemo for cervical cancer (she's in remission now), she hosted a party for fun. While it was winding down, her husband, David, 32, came in from his second job and said, "You could sell that stuff." Leah laughed it off, but David encouraged her to try. "He felt I needed something positive after being so sick," she says. When offered a start-up kit for half price as part of a special promotion, Leah bought in and lined up events with friends on the base, showing how to cook quick meals and set beautiful tables with the stoneware.
That being said, I think this product has a lot of potential. Tea and accessories can be touted as perfect Mother's Day and birthday gifts, and these parties would be fun to throw and attend during the cold, blustery winter months post-Christmas when most direct-sales companies are probably experiencing a lull in sales. Plus, on the flip-side of coffee-madness, there's a ton of devout tea-drinkers and it comes with the quiet promise of relaxation and me-time -- a mom's greatest fantasy.

One of the best skincare products in and outside of MLM, no doubt. They were founded by a couple dermatologists, and they used to be an upscale department store brand before entering the world of network marketing. Rodan and Fields created Proactiv, which ended up being one of the most famous skincare products of all time (and a hero-in-a-bottle for every middle schooler who’s ever been called pizza-face). Just this one product line is nearing $1 billion in annual sales.

In order to find success with any of the top MLM opportunity, it comes down to finding a company that is the right fit for you. There is a lot to consider in the decision-making process. How long has the company been around? What is the compensation plan like? Is it an opportunity that you can feel passionate about? The answers to your questions will ultimately determine your future.
Ladies (and gents) all across the country are earning extra income and creating sustainable home businesses for themselves and their families by selling products to their friends, family and community. Gone are the days where we had to rely on a college degree to earn a sizable income. We are now able to start businesses in less than one week if you’re fast. But, if you’ve never done it before, how do you start your own business? And, how do you make your business successful?

Odds are, somebody in your life works or has worked for a multi-level marking company, called MLM companies for short. If you’ve ever had a friend on social media invite you to join their sales team or attend an online shopping party, it probably had connections to an MLM company. Some people think of MLM companies as some opportunistic scam, but that actually couldn’t be further from the truth. Learning a little bit about how these companies can help you understand why they provide a wealth of opportunity for income and professional growth. In fact, you’re probably very familiar with many of the best MLM companies in the business without even knowing it.

MLM also referred to as network marketing, utilize a system of marketing that’s based on a basic business model: you become a part of a team of distributors and work to build a team of recruited downline distributors. The top network marketing companies have a strong inventory of products that you will provide to your clients, meeting a specific need in your target market. As your team of downline distributors grows, you receive compensation benefits from their sales as well, because you are the original recruiter. Simply put, the larger your team, the better your return.

i found a new and upcoming jewelry sales from home! FREE start-up!!! i almost fainted. lol anyhow, you get your own website to design {easy to navigate} you get to choose from hundreds of pieces to sale on your site… you get 216 as of now but that is soon changing to more. lots of extras! its really too much to list. you get a commission on each item you sale. you dont have to handle any orders or shipping, its all done for you. really simple. checks are mailed the 15th of each month. no paypal required. just be sure once you start to attend the webinar. it will answer lots of questions. i have been doing this a few months now and i love it. i home school my kids so its perfect for me… and again… its FREE!! haha really. i havent spent a dime. :0)
I’m surprised Rodan and Fields didn’t make the list, considering they are the fourth largest premium skin care company with the top three being 50+year old companies, Estée Lauder, Lancôme & Clinique. We are North America’s 4th largest and fastest growing premium skincare company, but we’re not in stores, the top 3 — Clinique, Lancôme and Estée Lauder.
As a sales consultant, you will be paid a commission for each product that you sell. Some direct sales companies will also pay you a commission on products sales from consultants who you referred into the program. Besides being able to work from home, you will also be able to choose your working hours and the type of products that you sell. Many moms opt to do their home shopping parties at night or on the weekends when Dad can watch the kiddos.
Peter Castleman, Chairman of Herbalife, will be launching YEVO International on February, 1, 2015. This will be the first business to have dehydrated foods with 43 nutrients we all need in order to live healthy lives. Most of the foods we eat today, whether processed or organic, doesn't gives us the amount of nutrients we need in our bodies. I'm looking for people who will be dedicated to making a difference in people's live as well as their own lives. If you're interested in joining me please do email me at essentialnourishments@gmail.com or essentialnourishments@myyevo.com. Once again my name is Denise Williams.
From my research of DCD, it seems that this is a company and product that would best suit a mom with older kids who can stay behind for chocolate-tasting parties since it seems pretty hard to sell the product through social-networking alone or in your own limited social-circles. I think that some of the products would sell well in an office setting too--say as holiday gifts from the boss at a large company.
I see Melaleuca on here. I see that as both good and bad. They are an awesome company with a great compensation plan. However, they are not an MLM. They are not even listed with the federal agency that oversees those companies. They are a Consumer Direct Marketing company. How does that differ? While I am required to purchase a certain amount each month, that’s all I need to purchase. It’s all products I use in my own home for myself. I don’t have a monthly quota to meet. I don’t have to buy product and sell it to people. The idea is that the product goes to the consumer only. In fact, it’s against company policy to buy product and sell it to others. The only comparison I see are the “levels” of customerS in my group. Can you shed any light on why you think they are an MLM? Thanks, so much!
A new project hitting the list, because it will have a huge following no matter what.  We know that crowds of affiliates from other MLMs will tail over to this company. Why? Well this is a BK Boreyko’s business, the same person who had just dealt with the FTC with Vemma.  And there’s no doubt in my mind that he’s planning to make another public attempt.

The reason I chose this company is because I knew a lot of my friends and family knew about the brand and already bought the products whenever they could find a consultant. So I figured why not just have them all buy from me instead? It has gone wonderfully so far and I'm even in a retail store now. I really just wanted a way to make some extra money from home as a stay at home mom with a 1 and a half year old and another on the way! Email me at adrienne@oru.edu if you're interested in becoming a consultant which is basically free this month!
One year ago, I would have told you I wouldn't be interested in or successful with a direst sales company. Like, AT ALL. I've had quite a few friends post TONS on their Facebook profiles about their businesses, and while I root for them and am happy to support them if they have a company with a product I could use, I'm just not one for tons of "have a party with me" calls or FB posts. Plus, I have five kids and we homeschool, so extra time isn't really in spades around here.
Another nutritional MLM selling another magical superfruit with a marked up price tag. So what? Their story might not be interesting, but their bottom line is: they’ve expanded to 44 countries and counting after just over a decade in operation. On top of that, they provide extensive sales training and good commission rates to their reps, which is pretty rare nowadays.
I found your article interesting. My wife and I have been involved with AdvoCare since November 2011. Even if I never make another dime in AdvoCare, I will continue to use the products because they have worked and continue to work for us. What I find interesting is the statistic that the majority – 99.7% in MLM actually “lose” money. What is the context of that statistic? That would mean A: the majority of MLM companies don’t have a buyback or return policy B: people that get started with MLM’s have to take on much more inventory that they are able to sell or C: this statistic is not accurate. I believe that C is the right answer. I do agree there are flaws in the MLM industry just as there are flaws in every industry. However, I believe that the MLM industry has made huge improvements in recent years and we do have a better way. People are the variable. When you have a great product, a passion and purpose that drives you everyday, are teachable and coachable, and love others as much as you love yourself, you can be successful in this business. Through the process of investing in your own personal development and learning to serve others, you are able to lead others to do the same. Thanks again. I look forward to reading more from you in the near future.
Unlike many MLMs that sell products directly to consumers, Digital Altitude sells a business system to entrepreneurs in the form of courses and methods that teach them to effectively market their own companies. While many of the packages can cost thousands of dollars, Digital Altitude offers a $1 trial, making the risk to try its product very low for the consumer.
Well it seems like forever, but isn’t that how long ago 1993 feels? That’s when this MLM popped its head onto the scene and they haven’t gone anywhere since.  This is how you build a company from the ground up. Step 1: trustworthy name brand and Step 2: strong foundation. With these solid steps businesses can go anywhere, and a half billion in yearly sales won’t hurt either.
Hi there :) another great company to work for is Le-Vel. It’s the first company to ever have wearable nutrition that helped with mental clarity, appetite control and is time released.. We offer so many more Greta products and have helped thousands of people. It’s great for energy, body aches and pains, headaches/migraines and weight management and best it’s 100% natural, gluten free and gmo free. They also have a car allowance of up to $800 once you reach a certain amount a month.. Check it out http://www.thethrivedream.le-vel.com

AMWAY – Amway is a pioneer in the MLM industry. It was created way back in 1959 and now considered one of the top 10 MLM companies in the world. The company had a reported earning of at least 8 billion dollars with a network of members that is growing on a daily basis. Amway is considered the second biggest MLM company in the world when compared the revenue generated. The company runs its own production facility in the U.S. with many products in home care, personal care and nutritional supplements.
Backstory: Nakia drafted a proposal for her Essential Soul Purpose Youth (ESPY) mentoring program, for ages 14 to 17, and pitched it to company CEO Nadine Thompson, who loved the idea. Nakia found 15 interested teens through her kids and sales force. They kicked off with a fashion show fundraiser in February 2011, with aspiring entrepreneurs modeling Soul Purpose makeup and clothes from local boutiques, to build buzz and recruit community mentors.
Scentsy you join $125.77 tax/shipping and all for u kit u have to make $200 in sales to stay active (u buy all ur stuff on the store books sales promotions and testers and more DOES not count as ur $200 goal.) u have to pay $10 for ur website each month and u can join warmer of the month or scent of the month ranging prices between $65-$85 plus tax shipping...(cause its under $200 to gain free shipping) u get no deals for being a scentsy sales person if u personally buy...u pay same as others would 20 pec commission
Hello, I loved reading all this info, it was so helpful. I want badly to get out of the 2 hour commute and hours of being stuck in an office. I am a maker, a fiddler, I need a change. I am an RN and very interested in great health products. I want to find a company I can love and be proud of the products. I have seen something called 7.2 wellness ( 7point 2) but have not found anyone actually using it or selling it. Has anyone heard of this one?
To be clear, MLM is a viable home-based business opportunity. Anyone interested in selling a product to generate income has the ability to achieve success. With that said, it is crucial to research and investigate the company and products thoroughly to make sure that it's not a scam, and also, that it's a product and system you feel you can promote. There are many single-level marketing (selling products without a recruiting component) companies where the likelihood of generating income is much higher than typical MLM statistics.

My advice to someone looking into DS is to find something that you actually love and know that you could share with other people, not sell it to them, but share with them why you love it. I do fairs and events and I share with people how amazing these little hair clips are. I get excited about them and it shows. 90% of the women who try them on, end up buying them because they love them. So find something you LOVE and not something just to sell.
I've been with Young Living for 2.5 years and thankfully have not experienced anything like what Beth posted above. My team is incredibly supportive and willing to share and help. You technically do not ever have to make a purchase after your initial purchase. However, to remain an active member to receive the wholesale discount, you need to make a $50 purchase within a year of your initial order. Of course there's more to it than ordering $50/year if you want to build a business, but there aren't any secrets or hidden fees.

Hi! I am an Independent Consultant for Rodan + Fields. I just joined a month ago. Our industry is skincare- and we are the number one skincare line. A group of health care and business professionals founded doTERRA Earth Essence in 2008. They shared profound personal experiences with the life-enhancing benefits of essential oils, and the MLM’s first offering of essential oils – 25 single oils and 10 oil blends – was then introduced. In addition to new oils and blends, product offerings include nutritional, spa and healthy living products.
You also need to make sure the program you are interested in was evaluated by someone who actually tested it. If you find affiliate links in the review of an MLM program, the website that published the review is probably earning revenues by referring new sellers and you should understand that it might not be in the interest of the site to present the program in a neutral manner.
Perfect reply That’s exactly what gives network marketing a bad name. Sheesh. If you find something you’re passionate about then go for it. But first ask, how many people can you personally find who have replaced their income at such n such a company? I’m grateful to say I have hundreds of dōTERRA advocates who have, and who go about it with integrity. Thanks for all the research, it was fun to read. I’d recommend looking at retention as well sometime.
As far as the retirement saving crisis is concerned, more and more people are coming to terms with the fact that they probably aren’t going to be able to save enough money to just sit around and slowly deplete their nest egg from age 62 to 100.  With the average 50 year-old estimated to have less than $50,000 in retirement savings, there is an obvious need to find alternative ways to either save more or generate supplemental income starting now, and continuing throughout retirement.  Moving beyond just the dollars and cents, boomers are growing tired of feeling guilty or bad about their past savings habits and are interested in moving towards possible solutions.
Selling Products — Whether you’re a maker of physical goods or someone who’s more into writing books or putting together digital downloads, you can sell your wares online. Sites like Etsy and eBay are great for selling physical goods, FBA is an interesting way to become a reseller, Amazon is the go-to site for self-publishing and selling your own books, and you can sell digital products on your own website, on sites like Etsy, or even in ClickBank.
Along with the market itself, the number of potential prospects are also expanding with the movement of people getting out of the rat race and achieving leveraged income. Many of the highest paid professionals from major companies are migrating toward network marketing opportunities for this reason. Professionals in these position typically make a lot of money, but their time is extremely limited. Therefore, the value of leveraged income is paramount to their continued success, and they recognize the benefits of partnering with a network marketing company to bridge the gap.

The interviews and psychological connections lead me to conclude that MLM and NM companies, along with other small businesses opportunities, are important considerations for anyone entering retirement.  In fact, I believe the concept of starting a business for retirement income will become one of the most significant trends impacting retirement in the 21st century.  But it has to start with redefining entrepreneurship and framing it into a retirement lifestyle.  That means helping people find ways to turn a passion, hobby, or personal desire into extra money in their pocket… not to mention helping people see the importance of  planning for the non-financial aspects of retirement such as replacing a work identity, staying relevant and connected, as well as keeping mentally and physically fit.

My name is Lesley Mcquade and I am a skin care consultant with Rodan+Fields and I have been with the company for a year. We just launched in Canada in Feb but have been in the US for 6 years. We only do online sales and I help women chose the right regimen for them. We have 4 regimens for acne, anti-aging, red sensitive skin and sun damage. We have an amazing community of women, some earning enough money to retire due to our residual income model. We even have million dollar earners. It’s so mom friendly, almost every consultant is a mom because they fell in love with these books for their kids!  Moms bring nursing babies to our annual convention, they bring babies to parties, etc.  But the best part is, it is what you make of it- if your kid is sick and you can’t focus on the business for a few days, okay, you’ll do it when you can.
(Update: In June 2017, the co-founder, Dave Wood, has for the time being stepped down following his check-in into drug rehabilitation and the company no longer exists). I wonder if the buzz of Empower Network will ever die down? This is one of those rare gems of the MLM industry that exploded onto the scene and did not hit a bump in the road by dying out only after a year of being out there.  Although now the company is on decline, and its highly doubtful they’ll make it on any lists in the years to come.
Just a quick comment about the Rodan and Fields info...the initial sign up fee is $45. The other "options" are business kits, for people who want to purchase products. The monthly $25 for the website is optional as well. And the $80 is for products that consultants use personally, also an OPTION. We NEVER CARRY INVENTORY! All sales ship direct to the customer from corporate. So, minimum is $45...the rest is all optional! Nmaio.myrandf.biz
She soon found that there were major downsides. The company billed itself as something that could be done on a part-time schedule with very little money down, but Cramer was working around-the-clock and racking up costs, including fees to travel to company meetings and buy new inventory. Earning money required bringing on new recruits, and Cramer felt guilty when an unemployed woman fighting bankruptcy was willing to invest her meager savings in getting started, even though Cramer knew the woman didn't have the skills or temperament to succeed. Cramer eventually soured on the experience and quit. "It cost me about $10,000 by the time I got out of it," she says.
Your goals. It's possible to become rich in MLM if you choose a good company and do the work. However, most MLM owners are looking to make a little extra to pay off debt or stay home with the kids, a goal a good many reach. A part-time direct sales business can help you reach modest goals. And once you start building your business, and learn the ropes, you can build it bigger if you want.
